Plastic
Reconstructive Surgeons© is a non-profit
organisation (Limited by guarantee, 'Limited'
exempt) which offers a range of resources
for those interested in a plastic reconstructive
and aesthetic surgery (PRAS). We aim to provide
and translate knowledge and experience from
senior surgeons to junior trainees through our
continually developing range of educational
events, clinical skills training programmes and
online resources for undergraduates and junior
doctors. Through these activities we aim to
offer an insight into this specialist field and
a better understanding of the field and its
sub-specialities as a whole, its principles and
concepts.
Plastic Reconstructive Surgeons© runs an annual
Undergraduate Plastic Reconstructive and
Aesthetic Surgery (UPRAS©) conference, and the
annual mock Surgical PACES for medical students
with plans for additional expansion and
development in the coming year aimed at junior
trainees. All events are managed by the two
founders and presidents alongside an elected
committee for each event. The cost involved to
develop and run these educational programmes
(including database and net management) is
generated from sponsorship, personal
contributions and associations with partner
organisations. All income is recycled into the
organisation and no profits are taken.
Medical students and doctors from any part of
the world are eligible for membership with
Plastic Reconstructive Surgeons©,
subject to verification of their registration
with a recognised medical school or professional
body. Members are able to join the Plastic
Reconstructive Surgeons© facebook® group, which
offers a unique platform for communication for
undergraduates and junior doctors, meet and talk
around the specialty with contemporaries
globally. All members will receive updates on
recent events via this group.
Future plans include, access to educational and
teaching material on the Plastic Reconstructive
Surgeons© website. Members will be favoured on
application to Plastic Reconstructive Surgeons©
events, educational courses and clinical skills
training workshops.
All members are expected to uphold the ethos and
values of Plastic Reconstructive Surgeons® at
all times.
